Politicians are a suspicious bunch, aren’t they? A top California Democrat is calling for an investigation into Arnold Schwarzenegger after he confessed to fathering a child with a member of is household staff.
The baby was born ten years ago, before Schwarzenegger was in office as Governor of California. Now Eric Bauman, Vice Chair of the California Democratic Party and Chair of the Los Angeles Democratic Party, wants an official inquiry to find out if he used state or campaign money to pay child maintenance to the unnamed mother of his love child.
It is now known that Schwarzenegger fathered the child 10 years ago. To his credit, he has been financially supporting the mother and child from then. But that has made Bauman suspicious of what funds the “Terminator” star used for that.
“Californians are greatly concerned that the former Governor deceived not just his wife and his children, and I for one certainly would like to know if any governmental or campaign resources were used to cover up this fiasco,” Bauman said.
Maria Shriver, Schwarzenegger’s wife of 25 years, moved out of their marital home recently after he told her about the child.
Shriver called this “a painful and heartbreaking time.” And yesterday, the actor’s son, 17-year-old Patrick Schwarzenegger tweeted: “Some days you feel like sh*t, some days you want to quit and just be normal for a bit, yet I love my family till death do us apart. #family.”
Patrick is one of the couple’s four children. He has two older sisters: Katherine (21), and Christina (19), and a younger brother, Christopher (13).
Bauman pointed out that “During Arnold’s campaign when women came forward and raised issues about his sexual advances and activities he and his minions denied them vociferously and actually accused the women who came forward of being lairs and manipulators. What a shock that it was we Californian’s who were lied to and manipulated by Arnold. I think the Fair Political Practices Committee has an obligation to examine whether state or campaign resources were used to cover up this deception.”
What do you think to an inquiry of Arnold’s finances? Is it a legitimate worry or political point scoring over what is essentially a private Schwarzenegger family matter?
