Has Arnold Schwarzenegger finally paid his soon-to-be ex-wife Maria Shriver the ultimate disrespect? He went cycling this past weekend in an “I Survived Maria” t-shirt, with the dates of the time he began dating her to the time they split up.
The t-shirt was originally designed as a joke for his estranged wife Maria Shriver’s aides to wear as the couple’s term as California Governor and state First Lady ended in 2010.
Arnold got his hands on one of the t-shirts at a party to celebrate his term of office ending in November 2010. He obviously decided it would be fun to wear it this weekend. To add insult to injury, Schwarzenegger crossed out 2007 and scribbled in 1977, to mark the year he first met his future wife.
Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, a former news reporter, were married in 1986.
Shriver filed for divorce on 1 July 2011, almost two months after it went public that the cheating Terminator star had confessed to fathering a child (now aged 14) with a former maid of the Schwarzenegger-Shriver household.
So was Arnold cruel to wear the “I Survived Maria” tee-shirt, the woman whom he betrayed with infidelity throughout their relationship?
We are led to believe that Arnold and Maria are not warring over their divorce settlement. Apparently, they are progressing well with the process and they speak frequently.
But if that is so, given how he must have already hurt Maria Shriver in the last few months, should Arnold Schwarzenegger have worn this shirt in public?
