The long-awaited “Anna Nicole” movie starring “Private Practice” star, Agnes Bruckner, has a premiere date of Sat., June 29 on Lifetime. The network announced a while back that Bruckner won the role of Anna Nicole Smith — a topless dancer who turned into a huge celebrity from her Playboy pictures, marrying the super wealthy J. Howard Marshall, and fighting for his estate after his death.
An official press release was provided by Lifetime Monday:
“The Lifetime Original Movie ‘Anna Nicole’ tells the rags-to-riches story of the iconic supermodel who captured the world’s attention with her beauty and unconventional lifestyle. Exploring the sordid details that created her infamous persona, from stardom to untimely death, the world premiere will be on Saturday, June 29, at 8:00pm ET/PT.”
Anna’s birth name was Vickie Lynn Hogan. She dropped out of high school and was a single mother. When she turned to topless dancing, she changed her name. She went on to pose for Playboy magazine, appear in television, and married J. Howard Marshall. Anna’s very public battle with drug abuse, partying, and weight problems only complicated her already rocky life. The death of her husband fueled a court battle with J. Howard’s son, E. Pierce.
The movie will document how her life went from bad to worse after the death of her son, Daniel, not long after she gave birth to a baby daughter. Anna Nicole’s biggest icon was Marilyn Monroe and sadly her life had a similar tragic end. She felt hopeless and miserable by the time she died from a drug overdose.
