Casey Abrams (20) from Idyllwild, California, is a talented singer, songwriter and jazz instrumentalist. An early favorite, his run was jeopardized by emergency hospitalization but now he’s right back on the beat. Casey the underdog, determined to show he can be sexy, is winning voters over.
James Durbin (22) from Santa Cruz, California, is one of my personal favorites. His powerful havy-metal performances have out-shone his early comparison to Adam Lambert and a back story of his father’s death, Asperger’s and Tourette’s syndrome and struggling to raise his baby son with his fiancee.
Jacob Lusk (23) comes from Compton, California. His emotional crooning of classics like God Bless the Child” brought us and him to tears. “Luther Vandross is gone,” said Jennifer Lopez. “But now we have you.” Look out for Jacob’s big money notes.
Paul McDonald (26) from Huntsville has a smile that lights up the room. His unique voice and low-key quirkiness is not in the usual “American Idol” mold, but he is memorable.
Stefano Langone (21) from Kent, Washington is an earnest soft-rocking singer. He is a wild card finalist and Jennifer Lopez has real faith in him. “I think you have real star quality,” she said. For me, he’s more about looks that the voice but I wouldn’t discount J-Lo’s view!
Scotty McCreery (17) from Garner, North Carolina is a deep-voiced guitar strummer who really has something, for my money. “You can make a Bronx girl love country music,” said J-Lo. We totally get that! He’s a genuine guy with a winning smile and sexy laid-back style.
OK, so it’s pretty obvious that two of my favorites are among the boys, but what about you? Who do you rate as a potential “American Idol”?
