Filming has begun on series 10 of American Idol amid tension over the judges’ new roles in the absence of previous Mr. Nasty, Simon Cowell. That news comes in the same week that last year’s runner-up, Crystal Bowersox married her boyfriend, musician Brian Walker. Sunday’s ceremony took place in a Chicago club.
Now filming is underway once more on American Idol, dissatisfaction has been aired that Randy Jackson has taken over as the show’s new Mr. Nasty. But with the other judges being Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, who else was going to be the bad guy – or even tell it how it is?
The show’s originator, Nigel Lythgoe, has given the new judging panel is seal of approval, saying it is like the old days with Simon, Randy and Paula Abdul. According to him, the chemistry between the three is evidently working. “Randy’s come out of the shadows… he is Simon Cowell now…Steven is a lot of fun. And Jennifer just cares. She is like Paula with the caring but she’s a little tougher.”
Lythgoe played down the reported tension between Jennifer Lopez and the show’s host, Ryan Seacrest. It’s a matter of him not being able to wear the fancy shoes she does or flutter her eyelashes like she can, he says. Well, we will all soon see if there is more to the feud than that, but it should make for interesting viewing!
Perhaps Crystal should share some love with them. “Our lives have never made more sense than they do right now,” Bowersox said soon after their wedding. The pair got together after Crystal split her previous partner in May, just hours before her American Idol finale performance. What a difference five months or so can make!
Maybe a season in, the Idol judges will be feeling the love too? What do you think to the new judging line-up? Will Randy be able to fill Simon’s shoes?
