Sing a Whitney Houston song, that is. But this year, with the death of the pop diva in her hotel room on Saturday at the tragically young age of 48, it looks like all the American Idol 2012 contestants could be taking on a Whitney Houston song.
Ryan Seacrest has divulged that this week’s American Idol will “pay tribute in some way” to the late singer, who was just 48 when she was discovered dead in her hotel room on Saturday.
Before you say it, an American Idol Whitney Houston tribute is not shamelessly jumping on the bandwagon of her death. Imagine if she has died and American Idol ignored it. There would surely be public outrage.
There’s a connection between American Idol and Whitney Houston too. She has expressed interest in a possible season 11 guest-mentoring spot that was offered to her just days before her death.
Former American Idol winner Jennifer Hudson showed her fellow reality TV/singing competition peers how it should be done with an amazing version of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You at the Grammy Awards 2012
But how will this year’s American Idol contestants cope with Whitney Houston songs? What would you pick for the contestants to sing?
