Tonight sees the second instalment of America’s Next Top Model All Stars. All the guest stars get makeovers and Ashlee Simpson is a guest judge. But don’t expect Sheena Sakai to be pleased about it! You also may be surprised to learn that she says she’s not cut out to be a model! So what is she still doing here, then?
Sheena, who placed sixth in Cycle 11 of America’s Next Top Model, is still getting over the trauma of her last ANTM hair makeover. The bad effects lasted for years! Let’s catch up with Sheena to find out what happened and what she thinks of the All-Stars season.
For a start, Sheena admitted that there is much more drama this season but she tried not to get involved. Unless her hair was threatened, maybe?
Sheena certainly doesn’t see her future in modelling. She thinks she is more of an entertainer so watch out for that on ANTM. She gained confidence from knowing she was invited back because the audience liked her and she wanted “to help the Asian American community have a presence in that way.”
This season, Sheena wanted to showcase her musical and acting ability more, she said. Was she afraid of the competition on X Factor, American Idol andAmerica’s Got Talent? Surely ANTM is the place to show what a great model you can be! No wonder se says she didn’t feel nervous, taking part again. She isn’t in it to win it!
She showed off her language skills too. When asked who she considered the biggest diva in this season, she pointed out that “diva” is the Italian word for goddess. So it’s a good thing, and all the contestants are goddesses in their own way.
“I am an Asian goddess and that’s all there is to it,” she said proudly.
Being in the show changed her life, Sheena says, getting her more work and more recognition. But now for the bad part: ANTM ruined her hair!
Sheena has spoken out in interviews recently about the trauma of having to keep up the weave that was sewn into her hair during her last appearance on the show.
“It was a disaster last time,” she said.
It took her three years to get rid of the ends that were burnt from all the bleaching. She even had to change her diet and take pre-natal vitamins to help regain her hair’s good condition, even though she wasn’t pregnant!
But now she is pleased to announce that her hair as you see it on ANTM cycle 17 is all natural once more.
So, with that trauma behind her, Sheena had one golden rule for makeovers: don’t touch my hair! It should be fun to see how ANTM contestant Sheena reacts to tonight’s makeovers, then!
