America’s Got Talent Finale Season 6 – Who Will Win?

No, this isn’t a spoiler and I haven’t got telepathic powers. The season 6 finale of America’s Got Talent is still played out over two nights, with the acts performing tonight and learning their fate tomorrow. But at this exciting stage of the competition it’s good to look back and reflect on who made it to the finale.

Who has a chance of winning and who has the best chance of a career in showbiz after America’s Got Talent is over?

For those of us who have watched all 30 episodes of America’s Got Talent this season, tonight will be a bittersweet viewing experience. It’s the last time we will get to see the acts competing for the chance to grab a million bucks and a headlining act in Las Vegas. With only one winner, some old favorites are bound to be disappointed.

But who will the winner of America’s Got Talent 2011 it be? That’s a very tough one to predict, more so than ever this year as all four acts in the finale have had some difficult weeks when they really weren’t performing at the top of their game.

So let’s take a look at the four acts who could still win America’s Got Talent 2011.

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. is he only solo performer remaining in the competition. From Logan, West Virginia, he washes cars to play the bills and claims his voice is as velvety as Frank Sinatra’s and as smooth as Dean Martin’s. I’ve always liked him but since he caught season favorite, 11-year-old Anna Graceman on a bad week and knocked her out of the competition, this could be the man to take the title.

Singers always do well on America’s Got Talent, but he seems to lack a Twitter following. That’s not necessarily an issue as music fans haven’t taken to Twitter in large numbers yet to express their preferences and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. new to Twitter imself. He’s a great singer when he’s on his game.

Next, let’s consider Silhouettes, a Colorado-based dance troupe with a vast age range. These guys really do grab attention. Their stand-out feature is that they don’t just dance; as you might guess from the name, a lot of their performance is done in silhouette in front of a backlit screen where they freeze into familiar architectural masterpieces, compelling words or famous scenes. They are an all-round crowd pleaser with no particular demographic behind them. That may count in their favour.

The second dance troupe performing in the America’s Got Talent finale tonight is Team iLuminate. They too have a gimmick: with dancers having glow paint on them so their performance can be manipulated by computer. Geeks will love the use of computer technology but Team iLuminate may struggle to pull in the votes from the more traditional voters who like their art unadulterated by technology.

Last of our America’s Got Talent finalists is PopLyfe. As the name suggests, they are an energetic teen pop band with a  bit of rock thrown in to broaden their appeal.  The members all hail from the Bay area  of California.

I think they are the outsiders and the underdogs of the AGT finale but they may just turn out to be the dark horses. Their Jackson 5 tribute from last week’s semi-final was probably their best performance.

PopLyfe do have a gem among them in the shape of 14-year-old lead singer Kehlani Parrish. All four have parents in the music industry so they know what it takes to succeed, but have they got it?

Only time will tell, and we’ll have to wait to see until the votes are counted on the finale results show. But one thing is certain: America’s Got Talent!

  1. Spike says:

    Team iLuminate all the way.

But the REAL winners tonight will be the audience (Live and TV) after Jackie sings Nessun Dorma. I predict mayhem will erupt, just as it did after she sang it in Boca Raton and on Britain’s Got Talent finale. ~W W~
