The 32nd annual Razzie Awards were held April 1. These awards honor (if ‘honor’ is the correct word) the worst of the year’s movies and performances. Adam Sandler’s ‘Jack and Jill’ swept the board, winning all ten razzies. That has never been doe before.
Aren’t you proud, Adam?
The Razzies (officially called the Golden Raspberry Awards) have been given out every year since 1981. But never before in their history has one movie bagged all the awards. That must mean that as bad movies go, ‘Jack and Jill’ is spectacularly awful.
What is even more remarkable is that for his performance as twin sisters Jack and Jill, Sandler became the first performer to ever win both the Worst Actor and the Worst Actress awards.
David Spade won (if you can call it winning, and probably only Charlie Sheen would) as Worst Supporting Actress, Dennis Dugan got Worst Director and Al Pacino also won two awards: Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Couple alongside co-stars Sandler and Katie Holmes.
Here’s the full list of winners:
Worst Picture: “Jack and Jill”
Worst Actor: Adam Sandler (“Jack and Jill”)
Worst Actress: Adam Sandler (“Jack and Jill”)
Worst Supporting Actor: Al Pacino (“Jack and Jill”)
Worst Supporting Actress: David Spade (“Jack and Jill”)
Worst Screen Ensemble: “Jack and Jill”
Worst Director: Dennis Dugan (“Jack and Jill”)
Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel: “Jack and Jill”
Worst Screen Couple: Adam Sandler, Al Pacino and Katie Holmes (“Jack and Jill”)
Worst Screenplay: “Jack and Jill”
Twilight actors and fans can finally relax: they didn’t get any of the eight Razzies they were nominated for. For once, they are probably very pleased to miss out on an award.
