“Celebrity Big Brother 2011”, the eighth series of “Celebrity Big Brother” and the first series of Big Brother UK to air on Channel 5 and 5*, launched last night. It will soon be followed by the twelfth regular series of “Big Brother.” Already the talk has turned to vajazzling and Tara Reid’s view on balloons.
All the housemates have now entered the house and the drama has already begun! Soon after entering the “Big Brother” house, Kerry Katona was given the task of being a diva. BB warned her that if anyone suspected it was a task, she would be punished. Personally, I’d rather their discovered her secret rather than hate her from the outset as a diva. Kerry’s had enough problems in her life!
There was intense press speculation about the celebrity line-up which, for the first time ever comes ahead of the regular series. Brian Dowling, probably the most successful “Big Brother” star, is to host the studio part of the show and handle the evictions.
Kerry Katona, previously a member of the girl band Atomic Kitten, was first into th house. She is the ex-wife of Bryan McFadden who you may remember was in the original line-up for the Irish boy band, Westlife. He had an affair and moved to Australia with Delta Goodrem, although they have since parted. Kerry Katona’s life went into freefall despite being a mother. Her battles with drugs, alcohol, her weight and abusive partners are well documented, but they may fuel some interesting late night chats in the Celebrity Big Brother 2011 house! Watch out for her in the Diary Room. Her tears may soak the plush upholstery on the luxury club chair in deep red with gold trim.
Amy Childs was next on. She left reality TV show “The Only Way Is Essex” recently. The Essex beautician said she wouldn’t be shy stripping off in front of the cameras, although she wouldn’t go fully naked and is excited about being in the house with her friend, Kerry Katona.
Amy was also thrilled at the prospect of becoming housemates with America actress Tara Reid. Reid starred in “American Pie,” among other things, and Childs gushed that it was “the best film ever made.” So expect lots of sucking up there, then! Perhaps the biggest news about Tara Reid is that she got engaged and married to boyfriend Zack Kehayov in the same day. Actually, no; scrap that. The biggest news is that she got married a week ago and is supposed to be on honeymoon, not in the “Celebrity Big Brother” house!
There was an awkward moment early on when just Kerry and Tara were in the house. American Tara just couldn’t understand what poor Kerry said her name was.
Smooth-talking star of “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” Paddy Doherty (51) joined Kerry and Tara as the third contestant, telling both women they were “beautiful.”
Actress Pamela Bach (47) was in next. She is best known as ex-wife to “Britain’s Got Talent” judge David Hasslehoff. She once starred in “Baywatch” – oh and she recently offered to have a baby for Zsa Zsa Gabor. But she didn’t win any British fans by telling host Brian Dowling he “wouldn’t know what it’s like” to be entering the house. Since Brian is not only a winner of BB himself he became the “Ultimate Big Brother Housemate” by wining a celebrity version of former winners before the show swapped from Channel 4 last year.
Sally Bercow (41) set herself up to appear controversial, telling Brian Dowling,
“I’ll stick two fingers up to the establishment.”
She is not well known at all so may be an early exit, especially if she is not as controversial as she promises. She is the wife of the House of Commons Speaker John Bercow.
Irish teen boy band pop sensations Jedward were confirmed early for the show. They are set to confuse people trying to differentiate between the identical twins. It should be fun to see them first thing in the morning too, to see what happens to those oversized quiff haircuts. Jedward were previously seen in another reality TV show, “The X Factor,” driving Simon Cowell crazy with their crazy stage antics and lack of singing ability. Twins John and Edward Grimes (19) have vowed to fight the girls for hairspray and I can’t wait to see their bed heads each morning.
The twins already grabbed the only double bed in the house.
Lucien Laviscount (19), who played Ben Richardson on “Coronation Street,” is the youngest contestant on the show and likely to have many of the women swooning. He has dated former “Big Brother” contestant Sophie Reade.
Little-known male model Bobby Sabe, 25, may also have hearts fluttering. But he claims he “goes all shy” when confronted with a pretty girl.
Lucien and Darren raided the fridge within minutes of entering the house and late night talk turned to body piercing and vajzzling. Amy Childs definitely has one!
The first full day in the house has got off to an early start, with Jedward taking a swim just five minutes after Big Brother woke them up. Their heads held high to protect the quaffs, they swam up and down the pool looking like smiley blond sharks.
Kerry Katona is already completing her first task. She has to stir up a diva-style tantrum. Housemates will be asked to vote for who they think is the ‘biggest diva’ and Kerry will be punished if they do not choose her.
Channel 5 confirmed that there will not be a 24-hour live free-to-air feed of life in the “Celebrity Big Brother” house. Instead, there will be daily highlights shows and the eviction shows. Clips from action in the house will be placed on social media.
There will be a daily update of all the “Celebrity Big Brother” news and gossip right here, of course. Check back later this evening to find out whatg all the “Celebrity Big Brother” housemates have been doing today.
